Rating: T Summary: Padmé has second thoughts about what she feels for Anakin after her confrontation with Obi-Wan. This was inspired by a scene in Karen Miller's Wild Space, in which Obi-Wan asks Padmé not to have a relationship with Anakin. She argues with him and eventually pretends to agree, asking for Anakin to escort her home so she had tell him in person. In truth, she plans to do something else, the end scene of Episode II. I cannot recommend the novel enough, it is a fascinating insight into Obi-Wan, Bail Organa and a little of Padmé. I also quote a little of Jane Austen's Sense & Sensibility. Enjoy.

YES! This is exactly what I wanted after I read that scene in "Wild Space"! You did such a wonderful job of getting inside Padme's head here. It felt so true to form for her to rethink her decisions the way you wrote it. So good!

Thank you both, I'm glad you enjoyed it.
I have Padmé rethinking her decision in my head every time and I get annoyed when I watch the films and have to face that she doesn't until its too late!

I love how you're able to convey Padmé thoughts in keeping with her character and made her rethink her initial choice. Loved the ending especially.

This is an incredible piece! I loved Wild Space - I felt bad for Obi-Wan being sent (under orders) to straighten things out with Padmé, only to have it backfire and drive her to do the opposite to the intended outcome. You’ve kept her impetuous nature here but balanced it with some time to breathe and think things through. It was nice to see details like booking and unbooking the holy man, as well as the thought of persuading Anakin to seek grief counselling.
This was a very poignant line for me: “It seemed that their relationship had become a cause for her to fight for, an injustice that would crumble in the face of her eloquence.” It really sums up her character and motivations well.
Loved it!

Thank you, I'm glad you liked it so much.
I really loved Wild Space as an insight into their characters, that scene between them which inspired this piece was so vivid and easy to imagine, a sort of prelude to their understanding in episode III. I was screaming at Padmé after I read it, wanting her to take a breath and listen to what Obi-Wan was saying, even though I knew she wouldn't.
I'm pleased you thought this was a good insight into her motivations regarding Anakin. It always struck me that it more of a cause for her, rather than what a proper relationship should be.
