Padme and Obi-Wan are having their fifth anniversary and find a pleasant surprise while surfing in the holonet
Padme was watching her husband playing with Luke and Leia outside in the garden of their refuge at Varykino. Her heart was filled with gratitude at this image. She never would have thought all of this might be possible. Five years ago Bail Organa had managed to win a vote of non-confidence against Chancellor Palpatine and in his anger the Chancellor had revealed himself as the Sith Lord, the Jedi had been searching for. Anakin and Obi-Wan had been able to defeat him with the help of Master Windu. The Jedi had changed after that. Padme and Obi-Wan had finally been able to live together. Master Yoda himself had blessed their bond and Luke and Leia had been born to a married couple a few months later. All of this hadn't been foreseen when Padme had realized she was pregnant. She and Obi-Wan had been together since the beginning of the Clone Wars but to live a relationship openly was out of question. Padme had decided to keep her pregnancy a secret, driven by the fear that the Jedi would force her to give her children up. All of them had thought that the Sith were going to win the war and that the Jedi would have to go into hiding. Then Organa had made his move and Padme had been in awe how well prepared her friend had been.
Today was their 5th anniversary and Padme wanted to do something special for her husband. The baskets for a picnic were already packed, when C3PO entered the room.
“Milady,” he said and inclined his head with respect, “I have found something on the holonet, that should be interesting for you.”
Curiously Padme looked up to see both droids with a datapad, R2D2 making excited whistling noises.
She looked at the web page C3PO showed her and laughed with joy.
“Oh, Obi-Wan is going to love this,” she said taking the datapad and exiting the room towards the garden.
Her heart made a leap when her husband looked up and greeted her with one of his dashing smiles. Her feelings towards him seemed to have even grown during the last years and he seems to be getting more and more attractive. Especially after she had persuaded him to finally get rid of that awful beard. Leia and Luke were trying to let their teddy bears flow in the air and Obi-wan seemed to enjoy profoundly teaching them. She sat down at the garden table and waved him to see what she had.
Both of them were now staring into the datapad and Padme wasn't able to constrain her excitement.
“We have fans, Obi-Wan. There's this group of people who founded a forum for us five years ago. And they are doing a celebration in honor of our and their 5th anniversary.”
She tipped on the keyboard and he saw the finest art about them appearing on the screen.
“Somebody really put much effort into making these beautiful pictures of us,” he said with awe in his voice.
“Yes, isn't it gorgeous?” she answered and tipped once more. A video began to play and Obi-Wan seemed to be speechless.
“They're making icons, wallpapers, banners, everything, Obi-Wan!”
“And this vid is just stunning,” he said turning the screen, so he could see it more clearly. “It tells our whole story, Padme darling.”
She nodded with eagerness, “And there is even more,” she began tipping once more and opened the fanfic section. “They are writing whole stories about us and do 100 word challenges. All of these stories are written to honor our love!”
They looked at each other and Padme lost herself in the depth of her husband's eyes. These eyes were what made him so attractive to her, they always seemed to speak volumes about his thoughts. And the fangirls of the Obidala Fan Forum seemed to realize that fact, too. She sensed a brief flicker of jealousy that all of these girls would give their lives to spend one night with her gorgeous husband but it disappeared as fast as it came. He was dedicated to her and that was what these fans were celebrating. She continued to search the site and Obi-Wan sat beside her being as impressed as she was.
“It's only the first day,” she said with surprise in her voice, “They are going to celebrate a whole three days and we can expect even more beautiful things about us, darling.”
“This is going to be fun then. Let's show it to Luke and Leia, they are going to enjoy this!” Obi-Wan said and waved the children over to join them.
At the time they had watched every vid, read every story and enjoyed every artwork the sun began to set and Padme had totally forgotten about her own surprise. It was much more exciting to see what these fans came up with than having a picnic.
